Downloading PEPPER
Short- and long-term acute care hospitals, critical access hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) that are distinct part units of acute care hospitals and that have My QualityNet accounts will receive PEPPER via a My QualityNet secure file exchange. PEPPER files are uploaded to the File Exchange inbox of hospital QualityNet administrators and those who have basic user accounts with the PEPPER recipient role. Please visit My QualityNet to obtain your hospital's report, and forward it internally as appropriate.
For more information about PEPPER, please view the PEPPER training materials and User's Guides. If you need further assistance, please submit your request through the Help Desk. A member of our team will contact you to provide assistance.

November 2010: My QualityNet Configuration Change
Effective November 22, 2010, a configuration change was activated for the My QualityNet secure website which may affect your ability to connect to the site or download the PEPPER file.
The document Configuration Changes for Compatibility with QualityNet (PDF) provides details on how to verify and implement these required changes:
- Verify Java version and update appropriately (Java version 1.6 or above seems to work best)
- Activate TLS in Internet Explorer browser settings
Troubleshooting Tips
Use the Proxy/Firewall and Upload/Download Troubleshooting Tips (PDF) to assist with problems you are having with downloading the PEPPER file from My QualityNet. When files do not download or you get an error message, it may be related to a computer or network setup or restriction. You may need to work with your IT support regarding a workstation or network configuration or restriction that they control. The first step is to “Test Your System” (see link on www.qualitynet.org). If your system passes those tests, there may be a network firewall issue.
Notifications
QualityNet Secure File Exchange provides the following notifications:
- E-mail notification of Inbox file(s)
- On-screen notification of Inbox file(s)
To receive automatic e-mail notification from QualityNet that a message/file has been received in your Secure File Exchange inbox, QualityNet administrators and those who have basic user accounts with the PEPPER recipient roles must set their notification preference under the My QualityNet, Exchange Files task. Click on Send/Receive, then click on File Exchange Notification Preferences, and set the Notification Frequency to something other than "Never."
If you don’t set a notification preference, you will not receive any notification from QualityNet of received messages/files. Please take the time to set a preference. You may update your preferences at any time.
Options and E-mail Notification Frequency

Additionally, TMF, through an e-mail processing vendor, sends an e-mail to all QualityNet administrators to notify them that a PEPPER has been uploaded to the File Exchange Inbox of their MyQualityNet account. On occasion an administrator may not receive this e-mail notification due to an e-mail spam filter used by the hospital.
